Congrats on your success!

Meanwhile I could not even test the transmission I put back in because my car does not start. Keeps cranking and if it starts, there are some bizarre sounds until it dies again (mix of off timing and starter relay keep going in and out noises, I think) . The person who calls himself a mechanic did not want to touch it so I have to get it towed again close to where I live in Chicago so I would start trying to figure out what the heck is going on..

I got an A2 - Crankshaft/Camshaft position correlation, Cyl #5-8 error and multiple cylinder misfires (1-2-3-4) as well.

I have ordered a new Crankshaft sensor and a Camshaft sensor. The CKS I received looked very different than the original (although the OEM serial number is a match) and the socket did not even connect so I ordered another one.

Any ideas would be very appreciated..

Cheers,

Ozzie

I have over 25 miles of test drives with varied driving including some WOT downshifts and no more codes or fail safe to report. All shifting is smooth and quick but I do occasionally get a somewhat harsh 1-2 upshift and downshift (I'm not really worried about this).

Thanks again to RRphil and everyone else who contributed to this thread!

This is an awesome community of DIYers and with all the information available I had the courage to take on this project and eventually succeeded

CONGRATULATIONS! I guess it is HAMMERTIME :-)

Opening the trans is an intimidating prospect. I am not sure what I would have done if mine hadn't worked after reinstalling the first time.... Your persistence is admirable!

Update:

After several months of work, I was able to test the transmission I rebuilt and it seems to hold fine. I had other issues after putting the transmission back in (somehow loosened the bank1 exhaust camshaft in the process of attaching the TC to flywheel and it took me a while to find the problem and do the timing again and other things in the process)..

Thanks for all the help once again..

Cheers,

Ozzie
