Shakes so Bad when Braking - Giving up

So the Shop came back with a diagnosis. They are saying the front suspension is solid, no plays whatsoever, and that they are 90% certain is the "Rotors". The rotors are practically brand new, installed in December 2019 and I have driven the X5 probably 200 miles at the most since installation.

So I contacted the ebay seller since they have warranty over defective items and see if I can get a replacement. In the mean time, I'll go ahead and swap the old rotors that were pretty ok from my view to see if that fixes the issue.

Any thoughts?

Open box, clean with Brake Clean and install. Torque the caliper bracket into place, Lube all the contact point on the pads/caliper mounting points and install new pins and bushings in the caliper itself if NOT done so already, and enjoy.

Great that you have the olds ones to swap back in there. Easy to do, and if nothing changes, you'll probably have ruled that out.

But maybe even easier would be to use a dial indicator to measure rotor runout. Most people don't have those on the shelf, and often shops are more likely to replace parts than to have test equipment like that. But if you could buy or borrow one, you could measure for yourself.

Separately, I'll say that upallnight's theory on the thrust arm bushings was my initial thought as well.

And wow, looking through the past posts here, I see you got them from DeutschePartsUSA. Those guys are on my "never again" list from my one and only experience with them about 10 years ago. BTW, they have nothing at all to do with Deutsche or USA. They are 100% Communist China.

Thanks, I'm looking in now to maybe buy a dial indicator and measure the rotors. good tool to have around anyway.

On the DeutschePartsUSA I have purchased a lot of parts from these guys and really never had an issue, but you are correct, maybe it's time to find another vendor.

If you have a dial indicator you can measure the rotor run out. If it exceeds spec than I would contact the seller. I'm surprised that the shop told you it was the rotor without giving you the rotor run out measurement.

Yes I asked and they said they normally don't even do that with Rotors.

The ebay seller has just responded and offered a refund since the rotors are still under warranty and they don't have any more on stock. So I'll swap the old ones for now and return the defective ones back.
