Now before I get told to search, I have done this and I see people write about the trifecta lights and I see the dash displays but they are different to my display. I beleive there are about four different displays available and I have the EU type which shows the brake as a symbol and not word. Also they only ever show up in yellow at the moment, is that important? I never get RED!
So, what is different that I have to make a new thread? Well, I only get the two lights but when they appear the car stalls! other times it drops to idle and it will not accelerate. Sometimes, if I left foot brake and keep the RPM at 1500, it is fine and also more positively in manual mode. At 245,000km (152,000 miles) 3.0 diesel 6spd auto I figure I will change the transfer case gear anyway and I have a new one already on the way.
What baffles me is the stalling out, no one has ever mentioned it that I could find. As I mentioned before, it is an E53 with a build date of 11/06 and that surprised some. I certainly is not a top line model and I would think more base line. It does have the same size rims front and rear and I had this happen once on the old tyres but since Monday after fitting new tyres it has become more and more frequent to the point where I am not going to drive it till I replace the transfer case gear now. There is also a strange little shudder at the front until the lights come on and if it hasn't stalled out then it does seem smoother. Also, after being turned off for a bit then restarted, everything is back to normal until it happens again and this is way random, from one kilometer to 40 kilometers or not at all.
I hope you will forgive me for making another post on an aready well documented issue about the transfer case gear and I do seem to think this is probably my issue, but is it the cause of the engine stalling? That is the key to what I want to know and what is the trifecta of lights as I only have two?
Thank you in advance, I bow to the more knowledgeable of you all here
