I'm pretty sure that no E53 cuts the throttle when you hit the brakes.

I'd be a lot more focused on the accelerator pedal codes.

I’ll go back out and graph the pedal actions on slow acceleration, I’ll have to probably do it when the acceleration isn’t functioning as well no?

I actually already have a replacement brake switch S the code was listed when I first bought the X a few weeks ago.

You wanted to do both pedal pots but it's a moot point if brake switch is on. That's the main issue.

You can confirm while brake switch is working by hitting brake just enough for lights no caliper grip while driving up a bit of a hill. After 5-8 seconds the engine should cut power. It's programmed like this in case of stuck gas pedal the brake wins.

I’ll do both on the drive home, I chose 3 items and it looks like it only graphs two. I will say this though, since I cleared the brake light sensor code the X has been driving normally. Short drive mind you, but normally I would have had no acceleration by now for sure!

Like I said easy to confirm the symptom. Just tap the brake hard enough for the brake light to engage you should witness the engine cut power.

Ok here is a scan of the drive home, AFTER it happened again on the drive home:

[IMG][/IMG]

When I started driving again things were normal again but the graph stayed the same. Before when things were going well they ran parallel but with space between both lines, as opposed to this graph where they are almost the same.

When I scanned the DSC module when I got home there were no codes, but when I went into live tests and chose brake switch, it showed as being operated before I had a chance to push on the brakes.

Are we still in the brake switch as a potential issue?

I’ll try your test on a little hill shortly and report back. Is it just a light tap as opposed to a full brake press? Or would both things cause it?

Mine does. Pretty sure they all do, especially since after some guy in Florida drove full throttle for an hour down a Freeway in Florida claiming the gas pedal was stuck. He was afraid to turn off the key or shift to N.

BMW came forward to mention that braking will kill power to the engine, so they were going to investigate

The brake override that BMW has requires fairly high brake pressure AND high throttle as I understand it.

The BMW system is pretty hands off.
