I would recommend you check your modules manually and just in case the 630 does the same.... you will sometimes be able to check certain modules from both the "general" list and the specific version list. If it's the wrong one you will get a no communication message.

The Foxwell NT630 Plus is bidirectional on ABS/SRS only, unlike the NT510, NT520, NT530, NT710 and their variants. Your NT630 + was ideal to fix your ABS and associated problems, but may not be able to bidirectionally test other systems.

Foxwell numbering is moronic. The 510 is a far more advanced tool than 630. As mentioned above. Most things you can do with 510/20/30 you can't with 630.
The 710 is the successor to the 5xx series.

Alright, the module came in a while back, same numbers as the old one and such so after a short trip out of state, then recovering from a bout with a cold I finally put it in a couple days ago, and well, no change. Apparently it's not a plug-and-play type module. Does this need to be programmed to the car, or are there other issues at hand here?

Yes, it's not a plug and play module. A GMIII has be coded with options on your X. A cousin did mine. It has been working great. No electrical or malfunctioning buttons or lights since replacing the GMIII.

Heater control unit blows fuses, but lights on buttons work when headlight are on.

Still haven't coded the GM3 yet but heading to Alabama to visit a friend that has a friend that has done this before so not a big issue.
But I did find out the issue with the heater control unit. I did a search for 'fuse 48' and found out the auxiliary water pump is connected to that fuse. I unplugged it, stuck in another fuse and the heater unit worked! Plugged the connector back in the pump, started the car and the heater unit still worked. Haven't taken it for a ride yet but if it happens again I will just replace the pump.
