Three times I've glued the black clips. Three times they have fallen off while mounting.
What type of glue has anyone used? It needs to be a paste like fill in gaps. After removing the plaster glue, Gorilla glue doesn't take up the gap. Any other tips available?

JB Weld works great for me on these types of things…especially door panel clips. The brown label stuff.

Henn28, THANKS! If my fourth time fails, I'll get some JB Weld.

my "get me home" patch with JB Kwik on my radiator is starting to leak after 16 months and 17,000 miles.

I'll be redoing with the regular JB Weld soon.

I put a tiny screw in the hole first to hold back the coolsnt while the JB Kwick cured.

It was 36F=2.222 c so i used a min. torch to warm the spot first and it took two tries, chemical cleaning want effective i had to buff with wire brush to take off the oxide layer.

Even after 16 months the leak is so slow that i only know it's leaking because of the UV dye.

(It's never wet, just a growing spot of fluorescent green around the patch).

When fixing plastic parts, if you have a place for it, nothing bearso mechanical attachment:

It turns out a 7/64 twist drill will make a perfect hole to hold a 3mm machine screw as if it's a tapped hole!

I've used this literally (actual literal not millennial literal), 100s of times never had one fail.

If I'm connecting two pieces of plastic I'll spin the screw in the top piece before attacking to worry out that hole up from 2.77 to 3mm (i don't have metric set).

This can be used as a clamp to hold waiting for the JB weld.

What's really nice about this method is you can chamfer the top hole and use flat head screw and it's perfectly flush!

I have no idea if this method would help here but everybody should learn this solution.

This is the stuff I use on plastic and the fiberboard type stuff the door cards are made of:

15 min cure. There is Plastic Bonder with a black label that I think is the same, just a different color.

I've been curious about using that vs. normal JB weld was a good idea.

I'm pretty sure I remember project farm tested plastic adhesives and put regular JB as a control and it outperformed the plastic special ones.

Good to see positive feedback about it though.

Henn28, my fourth attempt failed. The left side fell off again. I had not noticed the seat plastic holder was upside down. uch:
The slide tapered end was facing down. It was causing the seat latch to be off center and come unglued. The seat clip had to be trimmed down to snap back in. I'll get some JB Weld and try again. The right side is holding good. I'll probably fill in the gap to hold it better. For now, the X5 is down to an oil cooler leak. Parts arrived late to fix it last week.
