Oil cooler coolant leak.

It's been a year. OEM cooler seals are leaking again. A FCP cooler arrived late to install last week. The OEM one is bent from previous owner maintenance. I ordered a tool to remove the transmission lines. I'm looking for part numbers. The trans oil plastic hose end clips and inner trans cooler line o ring seals. Might as well replace the small parts with a cooler replacement.

Pulled the oil cooler today. Waiting on transmission line o ring seals to put it back together. UPS should deliver today.
The line tool made removal easy. Both lines were disconnected in less than a minute. A little oil was lost but not enough to be concerned for a bit. I'll have the level checked by a shop.

Okay, back to the X5 today. Changed out 8 quarts of oil. It leaked a bit and decided to go for a full change. I had to use special hose pliers to lock in the transmission lines onto the cooler. The oil that did drain out of it sure was dark for 25k miles. The transmission seems to like fresh high mileage Valvoline oil. Next up, further leak checks before driving it up the highway at full speed. Coolant air bleeding is complete.

I raised the front then the rear. Won't do that again. The rear lift pulled the front tires almost to the ramp angle. I had to lift the front again to reposition the ramps. The small jack stands were at the highest set points for safety back up. With help, the X5 was reversed off the ramps. It has just enough clearance to work.

Back to more repairs. The lower line didn't hold up again under WOT. I stopped ASAP and towed it. The lower line is not holding. I assume the plastic clip is broken. Seems my only choice now it to replace the entire lower line. Has anyone had issues with Febi oil coolers?

No, but I found that the multi-flange grommets can get screwed up if they are not installed perpendicular. It makes the flange (1 or2) fold that can act like a spring pusher causing it to disconnect.

Cool. The holding clip does not look aligned right. Plus, it seems to move forward to much toward the cooler. Like it's broken. It held during oil filling and almost a full drive test. A WOT stomp caused it to fail. It made a mess. I'll tow back into place and lift it up on ramps.

Is the lower line a return line? I'll replace the line. I have not seen replaceable clips on FCP.
