I have a thinkdiag OBD scanner with the smartphone app and an autel 808 scanner. Neither has the option for programming the door unlock behavior. Wondering if ISTA+ might support door unlock behaviors.

My E53 will lock all the doors when I exceed 10 MPH.

Yep, I programmed mine to unlock all doors when the ignition is turned off and to lock all doors when vehicle speed exceeds 10 MPH. I did it using the I-Bus app, a very versatile software. It also programmed the angel eyes as DRL instead of the low beam lights and the left/right fog light to turn on when cornering left/right and the headlights are on (like the modern cars). It also programmed the side mirrors to fold when the car is locked and unfold when ignition is turned on. I love the app. I installed it on my Avin4 Android head unit. The software requires a license purchase at about $45 but totally worth it .

Here's a link to the software. https://www.ibus-app.de/index_en.html.

Note that the app also requires an $80 USB to I-BUS Resler Module plugged in the USB port of an Android head unit (usually in the back of the unit, at least with the Avin head unit).

I have ISTA+ but I don't think it can do that type of programming, at least the last time I did a complete ISTA coding on my E53 which was more than 5 years ago, I never saw anything like that otherwise I would have definitely done it.

I bet BMW Scanner/PA Soft could do it as well, if Avin can.

Nope, none of the regular BMW apps for the E53 X5 can do it including BMW scanner, INPA, BMW dealer specific apps such as DIS/SSS and ISTA+. I have all of them. So far only I-BUS app can do it. Any head unit that runs the Android operating system can do it when it runs the I-BUS application and with the Resler module with a license.

Bimmercode works on e 70 not e 53 i was very bummed.

It cost a lot more to switch to e 70 vs. license bimmercode.

Of course i did both.

One app I haven't tried but which I'd be shocked if it can't code such features is NCS Expert. But the cool thing about the I-BUS app is that you code right from the head unit (and access DSP and clock settings etc.) and it's simple and with a nice user interface as shown in the picture. With NCE Expert you'd need a Windows PC and a compatible OBD interface, and the app is very complicated - one could easily brick the car if not careful. Probably NCS Expert dummy would make things easier for such coding.

There is not that kind of option/function on body module so it can't be coded by any means. Like said it needs to be done with third party I-bus app which creates that bus message for the task.
