Has anybody used an automatic radiator in a manual car?

Yes, I looked up the part number on realoem. The listing for the radiator said it would work for automatic or manual. The picture was of a manual radiator. And if there were a plug for the hose fitting at the bottom, it would definitely work. If someone has a way to make this work without ordering a bunch of wrong radiators, I'm all ears.

It looks as if they discontinued the automatic part number and now only offer the manual part number - with the automatic oil cooler port.

I think I may have gotten the last manual radiator on Earth. There was some little damage to it, it was like an open box thing. I was going to send it back but decided to keep it because I couldn't get another one. I think you just have to plug or loop the atf cooler lines right?

Yeah. I'm considering turning a plug with an O-ring groove on the lathe, then JB Welding it into place.

I would not trust JB weld for this. After a bunch of thermal cycles, that plug will probably fall out and you'll lose all of your coolant.

I looked it up and...

Auto PN...17117544668
Manual PN...17117544669

It is NLA from BMW.

My 2006 X5 M54 factory rad is Behr.

The Valeo PN seems to be 734896 (for Manual).

Maybe use a trans cooler to plug the trans cooler holes?? If the rad is listed to work for both it might come with plugs.

It doesn't come with a plug. That's the issue. I did some rough calculations and it looks like a plug would only be under about 6 pounds of force. I've done a bunch of torture on JB Weld over the decades. I've figured there was a bunch of hype over a gimic. I've never been able to make it fail to do what it's advertised to do.

Every listing for this Valeo part number shows the automatic transmission.

The separate channels in the Auto radiator circulates ATF fluid, not antifreeze coolant.
So, if you install the Auto radiator in a Manual, simply plug the ATF ports so debris does
not get inside...
