INPA Error code troubleshooting

Today I did my window regulator which by the way Lemforder regulator motors suck and the OEM Bosch motor does not appear bolt up to the new regulator. I cleaned up my door lock actuator, cylinder, replaced the bowden cable. I quadruple checked my airbag connector because I've had a light for a few years. I went to clear it and it still wouldn't go away. I think the black tabs on the outside look like a picture that was posted in another thread a while ago which might indicate the connector is busted busted.
More interestingly I pulled numerous error codes I had no idea about. I have a hunch some of this might be related to my headlights and/or when they fogged up because of seal issues. However I've never troubleshooted electrical errors such as this. I'm interested in how some of y'all might try to approach diagnosing this generally speaking.

Have you had a low battery recently? Clear all the codes and see which ones return. Ghost alarms are common. I ignore them unless they return or are unique.

What he said except also check the Ω on your airbag. (Stand not in front of the bag in case your DME uses too high a voltage ands trips the bag (powerball small odds).

The connector on airbags are designed to short out when unplugged and from my understanding if the little gizmo breaks that removes the short it will stay shorted.

Look for a YouTube video if you can’t figure it out but I’ve seen more than one example on xoutpost where I think there just found the right sized piece of plastic to jam in the right place to open the switch. I think I’d maybe take the more drastic option of pull the contact.

There was another error about something shorted to ground but I don’t have time to look up the code and find what it is.

Most of those errors do appear to be low voltage. I hadn’t driven the x5 for about two weeks. I idled an hour or so while washing it yesterday and drove around the block, then cleared codes. Today I cleared again and it’s just the gong and airbag warning. Maybe when I do the other rear door carrier, front passenger regulator and gong i’ll try doing the chopped old credit card trick on the airbag driver airbag.

Yup that’s the fix you need. It’ll be nice to clear the airbag code for sure

Can INPA actually clear SRS codes? Hit me up on a free day. We can try my Foxwell Pro scanner. It reset my drivers side SRS code after replacing the door handle.

I can supposedly clear it through INPA selecting E53->Airbag then finding the read errors/clear errors functions which flashes the SRS light. It goes off for a second or two and comes back shortly after. I think it also does that with general error read/clear but if that's not true that'd be grand if the foxwell does it.

I had thought of INPA/ISTA as handheld scanners on steroids, like those programs include all capabilities of a scanner and then some. Is that not right? Do some handheld scanners do more than those diag softwares?

Unless it's OEM software and setup, I think some features don't work well. We can try the FoxWell before you try any delicate fixes.

You won't be able to reset the light if there is still a problem.
