Extended Maintenance
Is this true? I can't perform a brake job on the car myself without violating the terms of the warranty? If so, I guess I'll have to shop around for a location to purchase Extended Maintenance. Thanks, Gary |

I don't have the CPO boiler plate handy, but it doesn't cover "maint items" e.g. brakes, etc., anyhooo. Thus, one does Not have to have that kind of repair(s) done by any/your Stlr. CPO covered stuff, of course, gets covered and done by a Stlr. That "finance person" by the bye, is one of any Stlrs' biggest gross margin producers: their job is primarily to coerce/scare/brow beat a customer into buying sheet they don't need or want. I would bet his BMW 100K Ext Maint plan is marked up 30%+ over Sugg Retail.
Your basic Stlr has the conscience of a shark. GL,md

Yah, it was one of the reasons I negotiated and priced around a CPO vs 3rd party Warranty in advance. I had the suspicion they were trying to coerce me into the maintenance as a way to make back their profit on the CPO price I negotiated. I told them no, but figured I'd research it to make sure.
No place in any of the paperwork I signed or on bmwusa.com can I find any reference that maintenance has to be performed by a certified mechanic. |
