Extended Warrenty Problem!

Took my X to the dealer today for some work. I have the extended warrenty that last until 100k which I payed 3000k for. I had work the inspection done about a month ago which they found a bunch of things wrong but where covered under the warrenty. Today, I just got a phone call and the dealer told me that the Warrenty company told them to hold the work order until they come out to the the problems. He told me that the extended warrenty company just wants to see why so much money is being payed out. Isn't that why I bought the warrenty? I have about 80k miles. Has anyone heard of this before? Can they do this?

That's actually how they work. They have field reps out there to make sure that they aren't getting ripped off by the dealers. Just be glad that your warranty company is still in business is what I've heard about most of these companies.

Do they honestly think that people break their bmw's on purpose. Can they say that they will not fix your problems?

I actually had a customer come an buy a warranty for his vehicle only to appear in the Service Dept 3 weeks later w/ a blown engine. The warranty company found it a little ironic the timing was so soon and when the looked into it they found tampering w/ the engine (NOS) and the voided the claim.

There are some people in this world that will do these things.....b/c of this the rest of us will have to suffer thru the results of their actions.

Good luck.

I have an aftermarket extended warranty and recently had some work done. The dealer called the warranty company (Continental) and they wanted to send an adjuster out to check the work before it was performed, so I had to leave my X there overnight until he came out to look at it. I really don't like that idea - I know they have to make sure the dealer is not lying about the work, but it was about $1400 worth of work and I ended up having to pay about $713. Continental doesn't even cover all of the hourly labor charge ($95 per hour) - they cover $75 per hour.......so I pay $20/hour labor. I should've paid a few hundred more and got the BMW warranty - no questions asked and wouldn't have to wait for someone to 'inspect' the work being performed.......

I think its crap. They should not have an extended warrenty if they drill you like this. Can they even deny your work order if this is all just items that do need to be fixed. Is that legal

I had that happen with my extended warranty company too. All pretty normal procedure when the dollar amount is large or when they feel that there is too much work. Just remember that they are running a business too and they need to make money also. Otherwise, why offer the warranty. Unfortunately, my extended warranty went out of business and I am left holding the bag. Good luck.

I have Colorado First! I understand that they are trying to run a business but when your in the extended warrenty business, what do they expect. Some autos have more problems than others.
