4.8is OIL DIY same as 4.4?

4.8is OIL DIY same as 4.4?

I was reading the DIY on OIL change and saw that they have the 4.4 and 3.0 DIY. Can it be safe to assume that the 4.8is would be the same as that of the 4.4? I'm looking to change the OIL soon without any prior experience, but ratehr take my time and do it right myself...

I also read on the DIY's the matter of replacing the "o" rings? What is that and where would I find it. I plan on picking up the oil at my local BMW Stealer. They seem to actually offer it cheaper than auto stores.
