panoramic sunroof retrofit
I bought my 2005 X5 4.8is 6 months ago second hand with 2500 miles on the clock. I initially insisted my dealer locate one with the panoramic sunroof, but since they had one (ex-demo) without the sunroof for a lot cheaper and the nearest one other than that was at another BMW dealer 400 miles away (also 6 months older with 5500 miles on the clock), I settled for theirs without the roof.
I now kind of regret this decision, but I like the car in every other respect and wondered if it would be possible to retrofit the panoramic sunroof. Has anyone here (who lives in the UK) had it done and how much?

Didn't even know a 4.8 was available without a Pan-roof. Do you have a pic of the car?

i see it as an oportunity, hang a ceiling mount big screen for the people in the back, hammer down the 4.8 , who needs to check the rearview mirror.. chucker

1. I only asked the question to have a reasonable answer. Who knows it might have been as simple as changing a few panels or not. I'm not a car expert. Ask me a computer question and I could make you look like a dumbass too, but I won't because I have respect forthe fact that not everyone can be an expert on EVERY subject!!! 2. It has NO sunroof 3. I CLEARLY stated UK not US (the union jack flag in my profile also serves as a clue, duh!!!) 4. If I put the chassis no into ETK it comes up as a 4.8is 5. If I put the chassis no into Viewdata it comes up as a 4.8is 6. It was the ex-demo used by the son of the guy the local BMW dealership belongs to (and is named after). And yes it is a full-blown BMW dealership 7. (LeMansX5) Obviously NOT ALL 4.8is comes with the pano sunroof Thanks for your help and encouragement anyway guys. I now know not to bother in the future!!!

Hey hvissor4, or whatever your handle is, not everyone here is an expert either. You ask a question or make a comment on this board you can expect a little of everything from everyone. It's a given. Take it with a grain of salt and move on.
As far as you being an expert on computers, I don't care. And, probably no one else on this board does too. Now, regarding your panoramic sunroof: I believe it's obvious no one here knows how to, has never done it before and wouldn't attempt it. So, just admit that you purchased the wrong X and now you're having buyer's remorse. That's too bad.
