Well the X is back. They changed an engine control valve (???) and I just drove it and whilst there are no lights it just doesnt seem the same....it seems to have lost some oomph somewhere...just feels curiously laboured. I am a bit confused as to what to do now.....I have lost a big chunk of faith in this car. It has 6 months warranty left, has only 35k on the clock so what do you guys reckon I should do:

(a) hold on and hope for the best and buy another warranty when this one expires

(b) see what the dealer I bought it from can do in terms of swapping it for another car (i reckon they'll stiff me and I wont be able to get a similar low mileage, high spec car)

(c) take more drastic action of rejecting the car and going down the route of having BMW buy it back at a potentially lower price than I would consider reasonable.

I don't want to sell it privately cos of the hassle.

All opinions appreciated.

Thanks Change to: Suggestions:v 1.6.0 doesn't docent doest dissent descent decent dent dost don't

The fault was an "Idle Control Valve" in the end. Any idea why that would cause the problems I had and the various warning lights to come on? Just looking for some explanation as BMW dealer didnt seem able to!!!!!

After a load of aggravating emails and follow up calls I have finally managed to prise another year's warranty out of BMW for free! It will start on my current warranty expiry date. Needless to say I am really pleased given it costs £900 and I have had a list of problems with the car in the first 7 months of ownership.

Just shows what can be done if you are willing to hassle, hassle, hassle.

Get the dealer to check your EGR valve, tube system! This has a tendency to clog up your inlet manifold.I just simply disconnect mine to avoid any future problems.

Really pleased that you managed to get further warranty for free.

This happened to me aswell but I forget what they did to fix it. I think they just reprogramed it.
