could it maybe be a weight reason, rotation mass?

That would be the only difference and it is negligible compared to the total mass of the vehicle, passengers and cargo. I think some people mistakenly assume that plus sizing increases the rolling diameter and therefore increases the leverage the road force has on the brakes.

I have 22" on my X, not a serious problem so far.
some of my friends didn't like stiff driving, but I'm the one who's driving all the time and I love it.

I'm on stock 19's but I will have 22's on by 5pm central time, baby! I shall post pics and comparisons afterwards... Needless to say, I expect the ride to not be as smooth, but that really isn't saying much since the ride is rough right now... Be cautious of the ride height change as your speedometer will be off a bit. Also, the X takes a staggered offset; high in the front (35ish to 45ish) and mid to low in the rear (15ish). Other than that, the center bore needs to be hub-centric, and the diameter for that is 74.1mm . If they are bigger, you can get vibration, which wouldn't be a good thing... If they are smaller, get hub rings or get them bored to fit.

Kryptonite

(And please, if I have mis-spoken about something, someone correct me QUICK! )

Why does X requires stagger rims, can't I put non-stagger 22'' on my X5?
This way I can rotate them..

Mine are non-staggered. I just have spacers in the rear (30mm), and front (5mm).
