Problem with IPOD install . . .

Hi All,

I’m installing the BMW IPod upgrade kit in my X5. All was going well until I plugged the battery back in—now the engine check light is on and the OBC (On-Board Computer) MID (Multi-information Display) unit does not illuminate (although I can control the radio tuner and volume from the steering wheel).

I’ve reviewed all the wiring and the positions look right. The BMW instructions mislabeled the color coding of one wire (PersonaNonGrata found the same problem here. The wire in position 9 was listed as White/Red but mine was White/Yellow. Nevertheless, the position seemed right and all the other wire colors match as listed).

Any suggestions for further troubleshooting? I’m at a loss because everything went according to plan and I’ve given the install the once-over and can’t find any obvious problems.

Best Regards,

Nick
