Replacing the fuel filter

Are there any write ups for this? I searched but can't find any. I'm sure, by now, people have been replacing their filters.

It's a bear! It is located in the right rear around the rear seat area but below the floor and you need to remove the whole underbody cover to get at it.

I´ve changed mine two weeks ago at 128000Km. Like Zulu 95 said it´s not an easy job, but instead of remove the underbody, I cut the rivets and took out the filter, much easier this way. Then I put some other rivest and all was done in few minutes.

It´s located here.

J, do you mean that those rivets holding the heat shield have to be replaced? is the filter behind the metal heat shield or just behind the plastic underbody? Do you have any more photos?

Yes those are the rivets.
The filter is behing the plastic underbody, you´ll have to force it a little to take it out, and to cut the rivets you´ll have to use proper tools.

I have been reading recently that the dirty fuel filter may contribute to very rough idling first thing in the morning and stalling at first start-up of the day...have you had any of this?

At idle, it has almost konked out a couple times, but then recovers to normal RPM.
