Exclamation Transmition problem?????

I was happily driving my X5 today and I stopped on a red light, when I release the brake and try to "run" the car It was no response and I got a fast message something like "tras. failed...." keep presing and when I got to about 4 rpm the car started going..... What is it? transmition problem? nooooooooooooooooo .

When I got home open the hood and I found some (i think is coolant) , they must be a leak or something. Here is a picture.....
Is the one on the right center, it was full with a blue fluid ......
I wanna cry....
Any ideas what happened?

How many miles on your X? BMW automatics tend to fail around 100k miles, although individual results will vary.

Thats a coolant leek! Have you located where the leek is? I have seen a few X's and e39's with this problem, the coolent leeked from the actual cap as the rubber 0 Ring inside the cap was done. Thats an easy fix if its the 0 ring. If not you will need to find where the coolent is coming from? It looks like in the pic that something is not secure or burt? Is there coolent on the underside of the hood?

There is no fluid under the hood and the leak seems to be where the ring is, but the conection seems to be tight

Check to see if the coolent tank has split anywhere, plus I would double check the pipes incase they have split, also make sure they are good and tight! You could also clean away any fluid from around the tank and hoses, make sure you have plenty of coolent in the tank, start the engine and have someone rev it to see if any coolent starts to appear again! It doesnt have to be reved to hard.

Just clean it and waiting for my hubby to get home so he can help me check it... Thanks for your help.

Now I don't know to do with that tran failed message I got.... If it is the transmition that means no car tomorrow....

I have heard that sometimes the X will throw up the trans failsafe message on ocassions. Some have said by switching the car off leaving it for a 10sec or so and switching it on again the fault is cleared and everything is back to normal.

That is correct, I got the message when I was going to pick up my dinner and 15 minutes later I start the car again and it was fine. No messages . But then why the first time did not wanna go ( the car) ? only started to run when I got to 4rpm
