Goes to show that BMW's crisp handling and great driving dynamics are safety features equally important as airbags. Did DSC come on? Given that the sports car was a Camaro, I'm not totally surprised it didnt make the corner.........

I do not think the DSC came on. I did not feel it anyway. I think the difference between me making the curve and not the other guy is a combination of different things. A young guy with not much experience (he was 21) with a Camaro (not the best car on curve) and a 47 years old timer driving a great handling car. I have been impressed by my X several times but this time I owe it a lot. In any case I was going too fast at night on a small road, proof that you can be an old timer but still do mistake.

Great story glad you made it.

With regard to downshifting you were able to control the car and know what you are doing. However a less experience driver would be better off braking and letting the stability control system and abs work for them.

Alain, very glad to hear that the X reacted like it should, and that you came through the ordeal safely. Very kind of you to also stop and assist the other driver that didn't fare quite as well

Glad you didn't share the camaro's fate Alain. Now you are bit more intimate with X's capabilities.

Kudos to both you and the X5. Glad you're doing well, and it was very nice of you to go back and check on the other driver.

Juan
