Thanks, dvs! If the stealer can't figure it out, I'll ask them to investigate the hood switch as a possibility.

I have a question here. I have 2004 4.4i, but I never saw Door Open message on my dash, even when the door is open. Is this visible on only few model years?

Thanks

I'm with "dvs" - my 2001 had to have the hood alarm switch replaced - mechanic said the computer showed it set off the system 30 times in the last 24hrs before I brought it in - no problems since replacement

Okay, so the stealer kept my car for 4 full days and here is the job they performed. They found my right rear door lock actuator switch faulty and replaced it. They also found the control module faulty and replaced that too. The X5 seems healthy thus far I do have to give my service writer some props. I was still about 2,000 miles away from my next service (Inspection II) with one green light left but decided to ask him if they could do it now. He asked his boss and got the okay! This particular dealership is not the one I purchased the car from so they didn't provide me with a free rental. I was on my own for that...until I kindly asked if they'd be nice enough to pick up the tab for that since the repair was taking so long. Low and behold, he said no problem, clicked in a po number for the amount and I was taken care of Although the repair did take much longer than expected (and pending a repair that sticks of course) the experience overall was quite good.
