Find another shop. Most shops will charge anywhere between $40-$60.

I will call some other places, but I have been to this particular shop before to have my resonator removed and they only charged me $40.

Theres a reason why the oem exhaust tip doesn't simply exit straight and down but curves back on itself.

If you insist on doing it let me know the results.
A simple curve in a mandrel bent pipe after the muffler will cause only marginal back pressure. Most of back pressure will come from inside the box and the size of the pipes. The same back pressure can be obtained by the use of chokes (pipe within a pipe) on less restrictive mufflers. I had the same problem with my WRX to keep the sensors happy and the torque happier. I'm about to fit a set of 4.4 mufflers and match the back pressure as the diesel units. It all makes sense in theory just requires a bit of tuning. I've put up a post asking others that have gone down this track for info.

Cheers,
