Uneven windshield wipers

I have notice that over time the wipers on my X5 are no longer even when turned off. The passenger side one ends at an up angle of about 30 degrees when compared to the driver side one.

I checked out some pictures of X5 and notice thar in most cases the two wipers line up straight. However in a couple of pictures I did notice the same type of uneven alignment.

Is this something to be concerned about?

Mine did that when there was snow under them. If you have snow under them then maybe thats why, but if not then i have no clue. I washed mine and the snow melted and it was back to normal

I noticed the same thing, not quite 30 degress though. I checked all the linkages nothing seemed loose. It annoyes me because the passenger side wiper is up in the wind. It makes enough noise @ highway speeds for me to notice.

Same thing with mine, I assumed it was normal.

Mine is like that too. I just put it down to shitty american build along with the uneven door panels which i saw on alot of new X5s when i was picking out mine.

Sorry we Americans can't live up to your expectations.

The problem as I see it is with the rest of the world wanting to move to "The Land of Opportunity" and do all the jobs that no one here wants to do. You know like farming (so we can send food to all the second and third world countries for free), assembly line work, oh and lets not forget all of the "non-naturalized" men and women we have in our military. But then again, it's all the farmers sons and daughters, the auto workers sons and daughters, and all the previous military sons and daughters who are joining the U.S. Military now to make a better life for themselves, their famlies and yours too.

Mi5, it could always be worse. You could be speaking Japanese, or German or by now one of the many dialects of the middle east instead of that funny "almost English accent" you have now.

I guess we Americans (home made or not) care more about "Liberty and Justice for All" (including you) than we do about your door being 1/16" out of alignment. Which, by the way can be adjusted, unlike your steering wheel being on the passenger side.

Theres still a chance we could be speaking one of the many dialects of the middle east in the future cause there doesnt seem to be an end to the war over there and over in the Land of Opportunity....

Anyway, the cars should be built accordingly. Even the koreans can put doors on right and the chinese for that matter. Its not hard. Use metric for a start

The wiper positions are programmable by the dealer - you can have them adjust the stopping points of the motors.

Your call 1/16" or 1.5 mm. It makes no difference how it's measured It's still called "manufacturing tolerances." It has no relation to nationality of the guy or girl turning the wrench. If you want to blame someone blame the BMW engineer who has decided on the manufacturing tolerances.
