The sucky thing is that with a newborn baby, your mind is occupied all the time. I didn't have a chance to check the before and after measurements. =(

But visually, it looks like there is no change. The endlinks are supposed to get rid of the error message, but it doesn't lower in the rear right? I still have to goto a dealer to do it?

I'll take a picture of it tomorrow.

Endlink have nothing to do with an error code. The endlinks just lower the rear. You should have no issues with any error code with lowering the X5. The only chance that a code would be thrown is if the X5 is lowered from the dealer. At least that the reason why my local dealer wouldn't lower mine.

Silver 5:, Mine isn't as low as yours, so the links DO tell the leveling to lower because the front is lowered?

Can someone please explain it to me why anyone would buy a high COG SAV/SUV and then turns around to lower it? I'm all for customizing your pride and joy, don't get me wrong...but this is one mod that I just can't understand. Worst yet, people who drop their rides often have little clue in the ramification of it. BMW did not spent millions on suspension development so that you can simply turn around and spend a few hours swapping out some components to "improve" upon their handling capabilities.

dkl just look at the stance of of silver5's x and anyone else who lowered there x and that should answer you're question

I really enjoy my new 4.6IS, but by no means I consider it a SUV. It's just a big car on big wheels. My personal intention was for driving the new baby around and keeping it as a beater and softening the current OEM setup.... and seem to have succeeded. If I wanted an SUV, I would have purchased a Range or Land Cruiser.

I would agree that it looks nice and every, but lowering a SUV/SAV is somewhat of an oxymoron, don't you think? It defeats the purpose of owning the SAV. It's like going out to buy a F150 4x4 and then turn around to lower the thing because it looks good. You wouldn't go out to get a 911 and then sky-jack it up because you like the high seating position, would you? If you like a nice, lower stance, there are plenty of vehicles that fits the bill. Why would you want to turn the SAV into something that it isn't?

Whether you consider the X5 an SUV or not, it is what it is. Be it SUV or SAV, it's a matter of semantics. The X5 just emphasize on the Sporty nature of the SUV more than its Utility portion. But you have to call a pig, a pig (not that I'm saying the X5 is a pig).

I know that you love your 4.6is (I love mine as well...that's why we're here in this forum). So you should enjoy it for what it is. Why would you lower it and soften it's suspension to handicap it's agility? There are plenty of good baby haulers out there (with plenty more room) if the X5 ride is too stiff. You said that you purchased the X5 over the Range Rover or Land Cruiser because of it's sporty nature. But taking away some of it's agility (by softening up it's suspension) doesn't seem to agree with your initial purchase intention.

I know it may sound like I'm beating on you. I am NOT. Just trying to see the logic in the things people do. But then again, who said logic has to do with anything, right?

For those of the regulars here, am I starting to sound like "Blue"? Must be just getting old for questioning people's mods

dkl: not feeling beat on at all. Actually I got the car used, and the springs seemed almost as it were bottoming out all the time, changed it to H&R and it seems like the noise is all gone and it drives like its supposed to. Again, I haven't driven the car around enough to even test the before/after really. The baby takes all the time!

I wanted a range quite badly, but would know that I'd never even take the thing onto GRASS. I also knew alot of RR owners, and they went to the dealer alot with high maintenance bills. X5 was sportier lookin, and it was a good deal, so I chose that.

Either way, I'm happy and getting used to driving the big X. :thumbsup:

So, what else can I buy to drop it like its hawt?!!?? j/k. =)
