Jwalsh, if you could rebuild the rear seats, most good auto upholstry shops (at least in my area) can get leather that perfectly matches.

I purchased a set of E46 Sport seats and I am going to retrofit either the whole seat, or I'm going to swap the seat and back rest, onto the X5 seat skeletons and mechanicals. I checked part numbers online and nearly all of the parts for the seats were identical. I'll let you know in a couple weeks how everything goes

nice, how much did something like that cost? and where did you get the seats?

I bought them off flea bay, cost me about $750, I believe they'll bolt and plug in just fine. The only difference will be on the side, the X5 version of this seat has a little skirt that hangs over the rail. The leather on the seat looks a little different on the 3 series sport seat, it's possibly a darker black, which I don't mind at all.
