When you say reprogrammed, what are you referring to?

When you guys indicate that you are'nt getting smoke, is that no smoke at all?
When you put the foot down does it drop a reasonable amount of smoke out the rear?

reprogrammed,I mean the cars ECU file where you have the parameters for Fuel & boost have been optimized(increased).Generally, a reprogrammed car will smoke more than standard!When we accelerate hard, it is characteristic of Bmw Common Rail system to show a small puff of white smoke followed by a little black ,but only at that moment (it will not smoke under continuous hard acceleration).This applies to standard or reprogrammed cars.Reprogrammed cars with a lot of smoke under continuous hard acceleration,have been badly programmmed!!!!Mine,for example,has been done so as to only increase fuel pressure at the Rail when boost comes in.(this is how the major Bmw tuners do it,like Schnitzer,Hartge)

I'm running now with a schnitzer performance module and I have no smoke at all. Even when doing a kickdown. So I'm very happy as I have the mufflers from a 4.4i hanging at the back

Hi tomwac,you said yesterday in another thread that you didnt notice much difference with the schnitzer module!Hows is it now??????

well, it depends...sometimes I have a feeling that it really improved, sometimes, in other situations, I have a feeling that it's like it was before. I have to time some accelerations. I did one 0 -100 before it was always around 9.6, today the best I could do was around 8.4. But, it's not very reliable of course. I think I'll put her on a testbench....

Are you doing your runs in D or D/S mode(full performance here!)?
Bmw claim for the 2004 > 3.0 Diesel,0-100=8.3 but this is on 235/65/17 tyres
and I am not sure if this isnt for the Manual!Netherless,your 9.6 is way off!I know you have bigger wheels but theres still a big difference!
Could the 4.4 mufflers be slowing your car down?I am just trying to help because you sound disappointed and I am appreciative of your feedback.
The main reason why my exhaust project is taking longer than I wanted is because I need to open both mufflers(3.0D and 4.8)and study/change the internal piping to ensure that it isnt obstructive.Like you and a lot of us,we all want to have our exhausts exposed and our primary objective is not to gain power but not to LOOSE any!....
How do you compare the performance of you new X5 with the other one you had??....In theory a 184 bhp x5 "tuned" should have +/- the performance of a 218 bhp 2005 model.A 2005 "tuned" should really fly........THANKS for the feedback.
