I have been playing with a few calculators and to get a 14.8 second for a 4400lb car you need about 360 horses!!

That cant be right...the X5 weighs 4900-5000 lbs, not 4400 lbs. Even still, the 4.8is runs the 1/4 in the low-mid 14s with 355 hp.

Here are my experiences. The 14.2 time sounds a little off to me especially for a 4.4i but I could be wrong. A few years back I supercharged a 4.6is. I took it to Sacramento Raceway at sealevel, 65-70 degrees, almost full tank of pump gas. I was running very early generation/beta ESS Tuning software and ran 14.4. About a year later and several software timing revisions as well as larger injectors and Dinan Transmission (SC version) software I was able to run 13.8s. Similar temp conditions and full tank of gas. Came up to stage lights and just romped the gas in sport auto mode. Coincidentally there was another 4.6is owner at the track running his race cars. He has posted over on the RF boards. The last times I got seem to be in line with what Steve Dinan achieved on his SC'd 4.6is. FWIW

for a stock one. And that guy said he ran that with 20" rims

I could see one hitting 14.2 and under with a s/c or nitrous no problem.

Can I see this phenominally fast X5 you have? I'm located in Santa Clara as well. I can't imagine mine would go faster than 15 seconds imo as mine is a 4.4i

My X5 weighs in at 4830lbs on a certified scale...with me in it is in the 5k range. I think this truck weighs more than my Ford Bronco!

I hit 14.8 and im not bullshitting. I have a 2004 4.4 with dinan exhaust.
The way i launched it was. I drove through the wet box to get my tires wet. then i shut my DSC off. I know only drag racers that are trying to heat up there tires with a smoke show go through the wet box. But i went through it so that with my tires wet i can get some wheel spin for a better launch and it worked. I didnt smokem but i defintely chirped them pretty hard for about 10 feet. And it launched hard.

I tried it with dry tires the first run and did a 15.0s flat. The wheel spin with all wheel drive defintely helps for a good launch. You should try it. get your tires wet first. But my goal is to get a 14.0 flat. I am just waiting for dinan to come out with some more mods so i can get there.
