Villajoe, the newer one's actually got heavier. It's really interesting, look it up. They got heavier from 02 and on. The lightest X was the 00 and 01. But the engine did get stronger but made no difference and you can't even feel it when you drive one. The valvetronic is in my opinion "garbage" the only thing it did was give better gas mileage. Many here on X5 world will scream and rant about what they feel is better, but to each his own, I'm speaking from my personal experience. I've driven 06 4.8is, 4.4i 05, 04, etc, and I must say that they are not what you think they are. They feel slower and a lot of hesitation upon acceleration. This is again my personal experience.

That and the 315hp as opposed to 290hp.

Hmm, 315hp vs 290hp....as for your second opinion do a search on this board of how many people try to convert to the new look and then how many tried to covert to the old one

Ask the seller of that 00 X5

what he's smoking? I should be asking $40k for my Dinan 2003 4.6is then.

That 4.4 is probably worth $15k only if in pristine condition.

I know what you mean Wag, and I'm with you on that, but I'd have to tell ya, it really doesn't feel any better or faster. I'm tellin ya, and I have done search upon search, my own brother in law has a 4.4i 05 with about 42k miles. I've taken him so many times on the street he still to this day gets pissed off. Again, my opinion and that's that. I love the newer face lift and the pre face. Will be purchasing a newer X soon, maybe a 4.8is so please don't get me wrong.
