Acceleration problem

Have a 06 4.4 since new about 7,000 on it now.Since i have had it i feel it has a miss, hesistation, tranny problem when i start from a dead stop. It never feels smooth always jerky.Anyone who drives it also mentions this without me asking them.Dealer tells me about VANOS but i do not believe him. Also truck is slow to downshift to pass unless you hit pedal all the way and rough downshift when coming to a stop. Any ideas ????? thanks

Long shot, but you might want to try this: Turn the key to position 2, then hold the gas pedal past the resistance point for 20 seconds.

I found I had to lighten up on my foot and ease on the throttle with my 2006 4.4 - the computer does not allow you to 'stomp' on it - the computer 'governs' the fuel flow, trying to limit excess flow to improve gas mileage - ease up alittle and enjoy better mileage

OOPS! just noticed where you're coming from - as an ex-NJ, I know your problem - it's a drag race to the next light, right? - there's definitely a slight hesitation that seems to last an eternity when trying to get out into traffic - take a deep breath, let it out slowly, chant "O-o-h-u-u-u-m", and then proceed slowly - it won't win you the 'race', but may help ease up on the ulcer you're developing

i've read it in this forum that it resets the settings on the computer of the old driver/owner. in my case, I have a CPO '04 and it somewhat changed after doing the trick.

there was a lag before and the shifting was a little abrupt but now not much lag and the shifting is smoother...before it would rev so much before shifting in each gear...

I had this same problem. It was really noticable and I took it to the dealership and told them they needed to update the flash for the transmission. I found this information on this website. They did flash the vehicle and it is less noticable but not completely gone. Here is the link that describes the same problem that I had. Hope this helps.

MARCH374, did you try resetting the system per the instructions above? If so, did you notice any difference? I reset mine whenever I suspect lagging this procedure takes care of it.
