Now up to 207K!

Mine is actually gas...it is a 3.0 and I am getting about 18.8 MPG....so far so good, minimal repairs, just really diligent on my maintenance!

Mine is a 2002 3.0 diesel (I live in Europe) with 251 000 km on the clock. Normal endemic X5 issues (suspension arms & bushings, final stage resistor) but original diff's, water pump & engine. My transmission is fine (5 speed manual) and NV125 transfer case, but I've proactively changed oil on EVERYTHING, even the "lifetime" oil. I've also added magnetic drain plugs everywhere, as BMW no longer puts them on manual transmissions and didn't on the transfer case. There is an improved PCV for the diesel engines, a better part and not as much an issue as the 6 cylinder or V-8 gasoline engines. My mileage is around 8 L / 100 km (combination of city & highway), goes to 7 L or better on highway only.

Well sitting here researching as I brought my 02 4.4 with 107k on vacation in the mountains and now I am getting the 2 - 1 hard downshift. Great timing. I will try the reset procedure in the morning and see if that helps.

I just rolled over 170,000 miles. We bought it @ 129,000 and fell in love the day I took it for a test drive. We got a very good deal and it was obvious to me upon close inspection that the previous owner took very good care it. We took it to a mechanic who also agreed it had been well maintained. Other than the fuel pump going out @ 144,000 its been a very solid and dependable truck and a joy to drive. Many people are shocked to find out its a 2001 as they think it looks much newer. The usual "wear and tear" items such as the door carrier and the Final Stage Relay have been fairly easy DIY thanks to this site.
