I am at 228,048 miles. I was having some engine problems for a while, I was getting P1083,P1085,p0171,P0174 codes. I replaced my mass air sensor today and now it runs like a BMW again. So its back to the races!

is it just me ... why are people surprised a BMW can get to high mileage? should be able to with proper routine and preventative maintenance.

my 318ti is still on the original clutch, trans, engine @ 237k miles and i haven't touched any of them other than doing fluid changes.

I guess with all of the issues you hear on here with the X5, some are skeptical that it will give them long-term service.

With that said, I spent around $12K last year to keep this thing going, but my intentions are to keep it for quite awhile longer.

Yeah, but I think as someone else pointed out, you're generally on here posting because you have an issue so it's likely slanted towards "there's a lot of issues". If you (or previous owners) don't keep up with routine and preventative maintenance, it'll very likely come back to bite you. I just got mine used last year and have to do all the usual stuff so I know it's been done. I also have to do as much as I possibly can myself because I can't afford taking it to the dealer I'm very happy to have found a site like this with very knowledgeable people!

We should all keep the mileage in our sigs and update it every month or so

I'd have to keep my car for a very long time to see that kind of mileage. My 08' E92 coupe has 5,300 miles on it and I picked it up in April and my fiance puts about 100 miles a week on the X5.

Heres the truth -we all just really love our X5 because if we didnt we wouldnt call them good trucks.. Because the truth is they suffer from lots of things and somethings to get repaired are hell.. like a alternator is a $2k job at dealer and $1k for a air bag replacement and install for the rear air suspension-that for a v8)... THIS IS WHY WHEN THESE TRUCKS DONT HAVE WARRANTY THEY LOSE LOTS OF VALUE!!
