I have check the column from the E46 M3 SSG and is the same part number as the X5.

the column is the same size as the E46 so therefore, same part no.

I just called Tischer parts, and they didnt know anything. He checked the e46 and there was only 1 available to purchase.

Trying to get myself organized because I know i will be confused once that wheel comes in.

Hey Zerochief- Did you do this yourself or get it from MR Paddleshift? Also, did you consider the SSG setup at all?

I bought the setup from a member here on x5world. He purchased it from Mr. Paddleshift originally. The install instructions, clock spring, and wire harness were included with the deal. Still one of my favorite mods

The SSG wheel doesn't have as much clearance as the SMG... its really close to the blinker & wiper stems. It's probably ok. You could contact member bimmer360 for more info.

Thanks for the great info. Yeah that does look rather close. Seems a little impractical like it would hit the stalks whenever utilizing their 'push' function. I'm starting to think about paddles, but want to keep my current wheel. Also the M3 wheel doesn't come in heated versions AFAIK. The M wheel for the X5 that resembles the facelift sport wheel is nice, but again I don't think it's heated and for some stupid reason doesn't have that great M multicolored thread.

Have you ever had any problems with it? Any issues with it when taking your car to the BMW dealer? How frequently do you use the paddles?

BTW, just to be clear... I know to use the paddles you need to shift the steptronic selector to the left (M/S), but do you also have to do your first manual shift with the steptronic selector or the first shift can be with the paddles?
