Anyone remove rear tail gate trim?

Want this part painted.

Has anyone taken it off?
Only 4 visible screws.
Can you still use the tail gate with it off? Might take a day or two for paint.

Yeah 4 screws and removal of a connector. I don't think it's possible to open the hatch from outside without it.

Going to get it painted green, I think this piece came painted if you had a 4.4?? or a later year x5.

4 screews then disconnect plug. Unable to use when removed though. That is going to loooook nice!! When you paint it green! I removed my black trim and replaced it with the titanium to match the color of the X.

Take pics when done, I would like to see the green across the back!
