X5 Diesel?

I honestly cannot vouch for the 4.8 or the 4.6 and stated that earlier. But if anyone has experience with Diesels in Europe, they have to be impressed with the performance of the X5 3.0D I particularly didnt need a class on the model numbers to understand which ones are the best because the numbers would dictate it. But I believe the diesel still makes it the 2nd best vehicle due to its groundbreaking technology, not MPG or top speed. It truly is an amazing diesel and if the colonies were able to experience it, it would shed the bad rap diesels have always had in the US (I know cuz I am American).

As for the 4.8 look, all of us diesel heads get this crap everytime. I do not want mine to look like a 4.8 (Hell, they all look alike except for the badge and maybe grill on 4.8). And I still do not feel that we are trying to look like big brother since these cost us over a $100,000.00 I just want mufflers sticking out the back cuz I think it looks cool.

Luckily, powers1 and some others prevented me from going with Remus before I purchased them. I surely would not have wanted them sticking upward. While we are on the subject, how is your project going. I know you have quite a few people awaiting the results

I not trying to give you "a class on model nrs"! How can you say that all x5s look the same? You are entitled to your opinion but the facts are that a lot of us who do not have a 4.6/4.8 end up fitting the 20" wheels and the bodykit not to simply make it pass for a big V8 BUT BECAUSE THESE ARE THE BEST MODS ON A "NORMAL" X5!
I am very impressed with my Diesel BUT IT LOOKS A LOT BETTER AND DIFFERENT WITH THE 20"S AND THE BODYKIT.........

Glad to hear that you like the 4.8is exhausts!Regarding the Remus I have an X5 with those in my workshop and we are going to cut the tailpipes and weld on the oem 4.4 tips ,at the customers request!We are also going to fit today the 4.6 20" replicas and re-programme the ECU with the car on a 4x4 rolling road,and we still have a lot of work booked after this,so my car will have to wait!!My exhaust project will involved cutting the oem box and the 4.8 to study the internal pipe work and change it if I shall find it necessary!As soon as it is done I shall submit an article with photos and instructions.

Can the Remus boxes be inverted so the tips point slightly down?

Yes.it is possible to do that!We can cut the tips right back at the muffler and
weld them on with the REMUS sign downwards,giving it a more oem look.Our customer just finds the Remus tips too shiny and wants his car to look oem and more understated.

Forgot to mention that this was Diesel that was smoking a bit when we installed the Remus(at custiomers request!),but later on we rectified this when we reprogrammed the Diesel fuel curve on the ECU and the car no longer smokes but still has an additional 25 Bhp up on the std 184!Soft programming but very noticeable and useable!

I must admit I am very happy with my fuel consumption rate, just a question though, it seems that the guys who what I would call "Chipping" there cars eg a Dinan module? are getting better fuel economy?

The Dinan Module,I believe was on a 4.4i and if you read the comments on that thread,most of the other members found it hard to believe that the guy was getting +24 mpg!!!The theory here is that if your power/torque is increased at low rpms you wont need to rev it so hard to get the same power as before,so you can "featherfoot it"!!But in practise,if you put more power in your car its because you want to use it,so if you drive your car in the same manners as before the power hyke ,you are obviously going to consume more! On our low revving 3.0 Turbo Diesels,accept an increase of +/1ltr/100kms for a reasonable power gain with a tuning Module.
Btw dont think Dinan do a Module for the Diesel(see my response to you in another thread).Those 24 mpg in that 4.4i are Us gallons which means hes getting 9.79 ltr/100!!!..........................
