You boys run along now, you can't play with the grown ups..........I'll be the first to admit, when I wanna go fast I hop in the shelby. The X5 is for the wife to drive and a family vehicle as well to tow the boats and skis. It is quick for what it is, and some are quicker than others, but whats the point?

I could care less for the v-12s, give me the M5 v-10 with 500+HP, then a SCer with a 50-75 shot, I'd be happy then. I bet with the rigt tune 700HP could be simple.......question is, will the rest of it hold up?

I am with you! If I want to go fast I just get in the stang. Oh richie rich is just someone trying to stir the pot. He acts like I called his car a piece of shit, which it may be seeing as how defensive he got. I dont care to argue or have a pissing contest with anyone on this board. My comments were not personal or directed to anyone. I bet my chevy will smoke that little x5 of yours richie. I dont need a bmw as a status symbol or to make myself feel good about myself like some others obviously do. There are plenty of mods that can be done to the sstb with the 6.0 ls2 under the hood too.

The LS2 is an awesome engine by far........and I have to say that you must be a gear head to own one pretty much. Most folks don't bother with the tbss, cause they really don't know the history of the ls based engine. A CAI kit, exhaust, and a tune and its a mid 13 sec SUV easily.

The reason we purchased our BMW was simple........we had done all the Jeep SUVs over the years, my wife liked the Grand Cherokees, but after the last we owned that couldn't keep brakes or tires on it, it was time to swap brands of vehicles. I bought her a new suburban in late 2003, a 2004 model. That was entirely to big, after two body shop visits, I sold it. I don't do nissans, toyotas, isuzus, or hondas. I had to have a SUV that had some room and still towed a boat, the X5 with the 4.4 has a good towing capacity and has some good features to boot. The wife wouldn't even look at a yukon or tahoe, thought it was basically the suburban all over again. The explorer was a simple no do, and the expedition was about the same size as the suburban. The price on my x-5 was right when I purchased it, so it was a win-win for us. They have their problems just like the next mfg does, but its a good vehicle with a bunch of nice features. I haven't had a ton of problems with mine, just the basics that normally go out on them, window regs and stuff. I like mine, but the day it starts to having major problems, it'll be traded on another x-5.

I really like them too. That is why I decided to give them another chance. My 2nd one was actually worse than the first. Mine were fun and very nice...just something was broke all the time. I am a gear head btw, I love speed.

I guess if I drove mine more often it'd break more than it did also....LOL! My wife has a mile commute to work each way, so other than when we head to the beach or the lake it only sees 35-50 miles a week. In 7.5 months I think she has put about 2500-3000 miles on it.

I know two speeds, wide open and stopped. Hell my daily driver is a shelby, so that should tell you I love speed, pumping about 600 HP. My commute to work is 42 miles, BP loves my ass.

If you had problems with the first '01, why did you get another '01 and not another model year? Did BMW buy it back or something?

Just curious.

I'm on my third X5 ('01 4.4i, '05 4.4i, '08 4.8i). I've had problems but all of them were minor annoyances, not big issues.

Its funny how some people have really fast cars yet they don't drive on the Autobahn or the track, nothing but flash and show.
Does high hp make up for physical short falls?

Its actually quite funny that you can quote my life when you do not know it..............but, yes, actually I do get on the tracks pretty often. Both in closed session road races and the 1/4 mile drag strips. Been involved with it since I was a kid when my dad did road races. Its fun, the adrenaline rush is almost good as, well you probably wouldn't know, so I will not go there..... Keep hanging out in the trailer park and you might get lucky.

In all honesty, you probably have more in your x-5 than I do in my shelby, and that I can promise you.......so who is the show off?

Man....I see you are into sailing also, does it piss you off when folks come by in power boats or what? I bet my 22 classic donzi with the 502 chev/merc really pisses you off also......
