First - I apologize to both the OP and Simon for the trouble you've had. I assure you there is nothing that I want more than to have you fixed up and quickly. This included me sending a return label to the OP (even though they didn't purchase from me) and agreeing to take back Simon's headlights and pay for his return shipping.

Quote:
Second, let me clear up any information that is incorrectly put forth.
1. The lights we are sending you are made by Sonar. The ones on eBay selling for $230-280 shipped are not the same as these but they are also made by Sonar. We completely gut the insides and remove a number of key elements inside the lights starting with the poor angel eyes but also including changing the way the projector accepts HIDs, there are also changes in the actual projector lenses, but you can't see that on photos.

So, the lights you will and have received while only visually looking the same are not the same. Sort of like the average X5 3.0 vs an X5 4.4 <-- same basic cars, but dramatically different when you look at the details.

2. Originally the DEPO headlights we purchased had 3 problems - they leaked, their angel eyes setup was limited - look carefully at our pictures and you'll see that high beam rings cannot extend to the top of the housing, and they had poor delivery times.

3. There is another headlight we are examining now. It's not a DOT light, and yes, it can be purchased on eBay for about $400, however, it appears to be the best of all worlds - but we will not know until we actually get it.

4. Regarding our overall product mix. I've asked Dave to become a sponsor on here many times, and he has agreed kindly. It's unfortunately my desire to have a perfect product that has kept me from becoming one right away.
Currently, we sell X5 LED tails, X5 predator chromium, etc. However, my desire is to become a full fledged member offering you better products than just those, the headlight will be one of them.

We resell many products at slightly over eBay prices because we offer immediate service, support, and responses.

We also significantly modify many headlights to reflect the tastes of our customers. I've highlighted "CUSTOM" because our prices reflect the custom nature of these products as we add our own flare to them.

At this time, no other company offers an E53 headlight with higher powered angel eyes and pre-configured for HID that is great quality and doesn't leak.

-----
To finish:
OP - the new lights may be in our hands as early as Friday
Simon - ditto to the above - those lights will be in our hands shortly. I hope you received my email this morning and we can clear the issue regarding some things privately.

We will - if things go well - be using this new light moving forward so that we have no future issues whatsoever.

We offer high output angel eyes just like those two, but we take it to the next level and offer replacements.

"Fixing" up an OE headlight anyone can do. If you want us to get you an OE headlight and install angel eyes into it, no problem. But OE headlights leak. It's not a question of if, it's when.

Edit: 20 days after my post below, I have posted further information on my "Umnitza Projector53" story here.

ThAT I can confirm are true!

In fact it was because I was quite happy with their quick responses and support (both on email and phone), I subsequently ordered the LED Taillights and HID fogs from them.

The LED Tailights had no issues at all, works great and looks great.

The HID fogs had the wrong bulb (H3 vs H11). But I later confirmed that it was neither umnitza nor my fault. BMW's manual was misleading. And umnita is willing to send me the replacement as well together with the lights.

Yes, I am pretty upset by the headlights, but I am also pretty happy with my other purchase with umnitza as well. Once this headlights issue is fixed, I'll be a happy customer again!

Simon, I'm working with 2 suppliers, one local to you and one local to me.
I'll let you know, the one local to me is a disaster, they are claiming that suddenly the DOT is all over them and won't let them distribute, while the one closest to you has not replied but will tonight. Rest assured I will not rest until this is completed.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
I just looked at the ones richirich posted a link to, The halos don't seem to fit properly, at least not the low beam. Looks like the smaller ring in the bigger hole. which kinda makes it look like they got a lazy eye to me.... anyone else think so? And the design of the clear corner looks kinda "honda" cheap to me also.

Sorry richirich, just stating what appears obvious to me...

Unfortunately I don't even have aftermarket options anyways due to the fact that NO-ONE makes headlights for X5's with factory HID! Seems like they're missing 1/2 the market for people that want updated style/looks but have the better OEM optioned headlights... but they would have to be expensive as hell anyways to be plug and play with our HID electronics.

simoncpw, I haven't heard back yet supposed to be getting a credit in the next few days.. we'll see. But I am definately going to give it ONE more try but not with umnitza. im going to go with customangeleyes/angelibright.

and weasel 56, i agree with you about the highbeam eyes that dont fit correctly. that is why i didnt consider customangeleyes/angelibright. But for the new model (their site is outdated) the halo goes all the way around and it looks great! ask richirich for more details ( he has em ). they are also supposed to be alot brighter. also, my x5 also has factory HID. its not that you cant get their headlight, you just cant use ur HID kit. you will just have to spend 130 more to get a new hid kit put into the headlights (you lose the auto leveling system .. ) . but i thought about it, and if i get amazing looking angel eyes and pay a little more to re-get an HID kit (pointless i know) its kinda worth it. especially if your factory headlights are chipped and showing age like mine/outdated. also i was guaranteed the lights were not cheap, would not leak, etc. and if anything was wrong they would be repaired or a new set would be shipped promptly.

i will definately let you guys know and post pics. just need that credit back so i can put in the order for the other lights!
