No, while the guy was out of town for business his wife traded the X in before the hitch was removed... I am back to square one! Back to considering making my own as I already have 90% of the materials needed (except for the harness)

I might break will and get the curt hitch, modify/shorten it's mounting flanges 3/8's an inch to make room for the flanges of a home made internal support beam as with the oem... add further bracing to the hitch for strength as well. But that still leaves me without harness. At least most of the towing I'll be doing initially will be with a 4x8 utility trailer with no lights on it yet... but I will have to find the electrical end of it soon.

I would be mimicking the oem support bars that goes in the frame with metal welded, drilled and tapped. Then just adding bracing to the hitch (in form of angle iron and steel straps etc.) as I see fit to achieve the structural integrity of the oem.

So what of these oem harnesses? Can you get the oem trailer hookup cheap?!?!? If you can that would help me out as I will still need the harness and trailer module.
