i'd keep looking for an oem hitch kit. i've heard horror stories of aftermarkets. i know they're hard to fine, but keep looking. i must say i am quite disapointed as to how bmw dropped the ball on the e53 hitch availability.

So in addition to tearing off your bumper mounts, you can rip the subframe mounts too LOL

BMW mismanaging this

I have a 2005 X5 4.4i I purchased in August. The hitch has been on backorder and I hear there are no plans to start making them again - huge problem for me as I will either have to part with the vehicle or find one with a hitch installed. Curt makes a nice hitch but you need the BMW wiring harness or risk problems. I do have a nastygram into BMW N America - encourage all to do the same - use contact us at the BMW N America website.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
It is NOT BMW that dropped the ball on the hitch availability...! The owner or the company that made the hitches for BMWNA died unexpectedly, and in the power struggle that followed, the company went under. BMW is actively working on getting another company to make them, but keep in mind that the machines that would fabricate the hitches would have to be made once the account was picked up, adding to the wait time.

Hi guys, What is the answer?
I also want to have the Draw-Title Class III hitch similar to the Hiddenhitch of Li-X5.
I only carry 2 mountain bike. So please give your advice.

Other things what is the difference between the Curl Hitch and DrawTile Hitch as the spec. show 2 difference type.

For the Curt Hitch I don't like to remove the bumper bracket.

Please give your opinion.

Thanks,

BTW, Li-X5 do you install it yet and how it work for you?
