Sorry to hear rasta. Def look into a new pair of shoes for winter setup. I can't stress this enough, on a trip to the slopes during last weekends snow storm, there were more accidents that i could count. The dedicated mud & snow tires on the X made our trip a safe and sound experience.

A speedy recovery to you and the X

Ah shit rasta,
Not good man. Glad to hear that you & passengers came out of that sought of ok. Get that shoulder better soon as you can (you'll need it for this years mods).
Really feel for you and hope you get it back looking the same as before, if not better.

I have pics of your ride along with zerochief's and a couple of other pre face lifts set aside in a file I named 'Other Cool X's', that's how much I thought of your beautiful car. Shining example.

Glad that we don't have black ice issues here on the Gold Coast.

Keep us posted as repairs progress.

Damn, that is too bad about your X5 - I own the same year and color and have often looked at pictures of yours when deciding my next mods... So glad I had winter tires put on over the weekend

Thanks for all the support (lol.. i remember how much i love this board). Haven't been here in a while because been so busy with work. That and modding season was over so the obsession calmed a bit.

Winter tires: Yes.. I have definitely thought about this and against my better judgement decided not to get it. BUT - I definitely think that it wouldnt have made a difference (that could also be my guilt speaking). Even while standing on the road with my own 2 feet i was slipping, so was my friend who came to help. And with all that said, I am definitely getting snow tires / wheels. Already on ebay looking for a set.

Police: since no one else was involved (just me and the tree mano-ah-mano) i didn't call the police. Just Geico and a tow truck. Funny thing is i wasn't going that fast, about 20-30 because I saw the road was bad, and i'm from canada so i know all about driving in the snow and on ice (so i thought). Car started to slow down so i gave it some gas, and you know the X, she responds.. tires just spun under me.

And yes - she will come out the shop badder than ever. I am already dropping off the fender flares for front and rear for him to do while it's there in the shop. My concern is what i have to do with the headlights. Those are my pride and joy and one lense is broken. I asked him to put it to the side so i can do what i need to do with them. Will see what the adjuster will do, replace with factory xenon, since I dont think you can just purchase the lense for it.

Thanks again though. I never thought i'd be posting pictures like this, but I've seen some worse. I got close to just hitting the tree again even harder so i could have an excuse to pick up an e70 lol (after everyone got out the car of course). kidding, love my e53.

EDIT: Looks like Rasta beat me to the punch.

Without knowing more about the details, and I'm all for winter tires, it's hard to say if they would've helped or not on black ice.

To me, an accident sometimes is just that - an accident. Good luck getting her fixed Rasta!
