Here is pic of my roof rack: Thule Aero. The box is Thule Spirit 820. They are very easy and fast to mount on place or remove. I also like the way they look allthough cross beams are bit too long to my taste.

Sorry about the pic quality. Not much a cellphone camera can do in a low light situation.

Wow, not to hijack the thread or anything, but I've never seen those rims on an X5 before. Are they OE BMW ?
BTW, there is another thread recently created that discusses the various BMW OE racks. Look at the thread called "profile 2000"

I hadn't either... but I picked up the wheel & tire combo for $400 in the middle of our states worst snowstorm in 50 years, so I'm happy. Note ** they had one very minor rubbing issue, which you'll see was the result from some leftover casting on the die. Filed it down and works great. They could benefit from some spacers, but I'm skeptical about what spacers do to wheel bearings... so I may just keep the anorexic look for now...

Here's a link to that thread:

Pretty sure they're actually 53" - I will check when I get my car back from the shop tonight.

You can always saw off any excess - so go longer. Once you saw, you simply replace the plastic endcap for a nice clean finish.

That's exactly the kind of roof crossbars I want! Very similar to the ones on my Yukon, they're low profile. NICE!

Ebay, here I come.

Just a comment. If you plan on carrying multiple snowboards (3 or more), the low profile racks don't give you enough clearance for standard bindings when the boards are upside down.
