Wow, I'm so glad you have been able to get the racks from Rola. I had Rola ski racks on my last car and when I got the X5 4.4i in 2003, I actually called Australia to get the Rola cross bars and they could not guarantee that they would fit. I am so psyched that you can get them now stateside!!! I still have the ski clamps from the old racks!!! Great job!!!!

Hey Frenchee post some pictures please, especially showing how they mount and if possible the installation instructions. The Rola website leaves a lot to be desired!

Shipping is steep. Total with shipping comes to about $400 US which is basically the same as buying BMW stuff at MSRP. So in other words the cost difference is relatively small.

Here are a few quick pictures. I can post the instruction manual scan if you like. Its really easy to follow and once you have assembled it, it can be removed and installed very quickly with a special torx screw driver supplied.

Postage was steep but I wanted it quickly.

Great pics. Now I see how they overcame the potential problem of the bars being so low to the roof....they raised the ski assemblies way way up!

Yes please scan the manual. Thanks.

GREAT PRICES HERE...

Found this great deal on the ROLA bars for the X5. Check out the link here.

Rola Sport Series Roof Rack with RB Mounting System Rola Custom Fit Roof Rack 59828

They have them for $165.00 and free shipping!!!
That seems a lot more realistic and affordable than some of the prices I have seen here and online.

Is anyone using Rola crossbars on an E70 for their surfboards?
I'm wondering if the board sits on top of the shark fin and therefore doesn't sit securely on the rack.

Hmmmm... havent heard them be used for boards... but i dont see why not. The rack should prop it up enough over the fin.
