Is there still a manual release on the inside of the E53's trunk (can't remember precisely) - if so give that a tug! Otherwise a leatherman and a head light and remove the material slowly.

If the blanket is thin enough, maybe you can try and push the door closed all the way? Maybe this will actually be better for the mechanism?
However, I'm thinking you might want to try and rip the blanket, if there's some give, first. Try this as a last resort because if the door is closed all the way then you might not be able to tear the blanket. |

Thanks for the responses! So, after driving 50 miles to work yesterday I thought after I drove home I would try and open the door. Well, believe it or not the door opened rather easily!! I guess the stress of 70+ mph driving put pressure on the open door and it kind of worked itself out!!
Glad it ended up this way! I thought I was going to have to take my door apart!! |
