When you selected 5 series did it have E60 available as an option? If so, what error or message did you get? What version and what were you using? DISv? or SSS v?

I have this:
China ECU Tools Centre

In my 4.8is, can't seem to get programming to work (set DRL's etc.). But am able to read and erase codes and adjust my air suspension.

Yes the E60 option appears.

Version? Here's what it says:
Software DVD (Current version: dis52 base+dis55+tis2007.12+dis44(coding+progman). TIS and coding/programm functions are all activated now! also including INPA 5.02 with EDIABAS 6.47)

Error message, can't remember but it does not automatically show the car info as it does with my 4.8is. I then try to manually input car model and when I do a Quick Scan, it just quickly goes through a list of options and I get nothing at the end.

i think for the E60 and up u need the orange head. there was a listing on a thread with which series used the fiber bus. i think the 5 series it was 04 and up, 6 and 7 were 2000 and up and 3 series was 2006 and up.

Hmmm .. the first one has adjustable voltage while the second one has 5 more amps. Not sure which would be better.

The first one can also take a surge up to 40amps so I guess the first one.

it should work. its pretty close to yours. just doesn't have reverse polarity protection.

40 amps is a bit weak and it wouldn't hurt to run a few more volts. BMW now spec 80 amps, but 40 would proably be ok for an E53. My charger does 14.8V @70 amps from memory.

The more volts and amps started with the E87. Should be fine for E53 and down. The bulletin from 07 only had the amps at 45.
