I washed the X5 on the lawn the other day...technically that is "off road"

Meh...If I wanted to do serious off-roading I would have bought a 198X Jeep Wrangler.

Great pix. I love taking mine off road. I always chuckle at the looks I get from the other people out there.

Some of the guys have said that even if they were stuck and couldn't get out, they wouldn't get pulled out by a Beemer. They said they'd never live it down. I have pulled at least 4 people out of ditches though...

I used my 4.6is with OEM 20" michelin diamaris to pull out my friend's 4x4 chevy 1500 with mud tires, had to go around him to get in front of him... The tires make a BIG difference with off roading, but the driver makes one hell of a difference too!

Hell, I took my E36 325is through more than what's in that picture with drunken offroading fun, did donuts around my friends stuck S10 just to piss him off!

How did you do it? With your towing eye? or tow hitch installation?

With the towing eye, just before the hitch install. About 2 weeks before the hitch install actually.

It bolts to the cross-frame at the same points as the uhaul hitch, and I just use better judgement and don't "jerk" snatch the truck hard as that would be where trouble would come in. But it was definitely an experience he won't live down when a "fancy-boy" BMW (as he called it) with street tires pulled out his americam 4x4 with stock sized BFGoodrich mud tires...

Tick all the option boxes for a 4.8 in Australia and be prepared to pay $150,000+
