Yeah I was going to ask that, too. Inspec 2 you don't change the spark plugs until around 100K miles I thought.

Inspection 2 starts at 100 KM not Miles I think...or am I wrong?

Weird how the price is really different...

Cause the cost of the parts alone will be around 2-3 bills for the Inspection.

Like:

Spark Plugs- at $15 bucks a pop alone are 1 bill with tax
Air and Miro filter: At the Dealer is around 1 bill for both
Oil Filter: $23
Bleading the breaks (according to Toronto BMW): Cost alone is $165.
Oil: 8 Litres around $60
Power Steering Fluid change if they do it?, (I'm gonna do it)

Unless BMW has changed the schedule, the spark plugs (and oxygen sensor) get replaced at 100K miles. I have had my e53 now for 8 years and only have 86K miles on it so I'm still waiting.

Mileage is ~62k. I pulled that list from here: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/e...-schedule.html but I guess it is not accurate as the plugs are not changed until 100k miles. It seems like I could make my own list of requests to inspect (leaks, brakes, etc.) and things to change (filters, plugs, fluids) - keeping the costs down somewhat by eliminating "worthless" inspections (a lot of the "check ___" items like parking brake, tire pressure and wear, etc.) to cut some costs and have an overall better/more useful service visit. Oh, and reset the damn light.

What do you guys think?

What light needs resetting? You can reset the oil service indicators yourself through a pretty easy process posted on the homepage.

Go to dealer buy 6 or 8 (4.4i) sparks and sensor, open engine top cover, unscrew all 6 or 8 spark cables, replaced them with new sparks. Put everything back together => done. This cost me less than $75 and just an hour working on a weekend summer day.

I have replaced my BMW 2003 328I for my wife last summer when it was around 61K miles and my local MD Motorwerk guy in NJ told me it's time to do your inspection II (60-75K). And yes you should not wait until 100K Miles to replace your sparks. At this around 100K miles it may burns and defects your entire oxygen sensor and sparks cables.
