I like feel-good threads.

Felt good handing a new Challenger SRT-8 it's ass on the way to work this morning. (It WILL chirp all four tires on a launch). Dated or not, the E53 brings a smile to my face. I haven't been an owner that long, but I am very impressed so far.

BMW design are so futuristic, they last long. That's why when a new model hits the market, people tend to be reluctant at first: it takes us a while to get used to it and see the beauty of it. but once we do, the magic lasts for years and years....

I remember when the E53 was released: I hated it! I said ok, it's a 5 series station wagon waised 10cm... but now i am ready to argue for hours that the E53 is an Icon in the cars world and an artistic beauty inside out... sometimes i spend few minutes just looking at it and appreciating it's design and posture... It's a Masterpiece!

The X6, again, was hideous to look at when i first saw it... but now i see a beautiful manly beast...

About the E70, well, it's been more than 2 years... I think it's time to get used to it. To tell you the truth, I still don't like it much... I plan to get one after the E53, but it won't be a love story like it is with my E53... I think BMW screwed up with the E70 design wise...

I am sorry to say but in my opinion, E53 is definitely looked dated. My family used to have an 01 and 04 and we sold the last one two years ago. I definitely loved my E53 back in the days but if you compared the E70 and E53 side by side , there is obvious the time has passed the E53 by.

However, it doesn't mean the E70 looks good even I just saw the X5 M in flesh this week. I think the new X5 including the M definitely has lost the masculinity and that's why my family is now moved on to all MB. But I do like the X6 a lot and will definitley come back if I can get a deal on an used one in the future.

Peace.

I definitely have to disagree with you. From the interior next to the e70 I agree the e53 may look dated but exterior wise a face-lift e53 next an e70 still shines. A friend from my soccer team has an e70 and every time his e70 is parked next to my e53 I still get more compliments about exterior looks then the e70. But when it comes to the interior the e70 gets more compliments.

Bored?

The other day, I borrowed a friend's new Silverado pickup truck to move a heavy piece of equipment. In exchange, I left him with my X5. As he was driving away, I gained a whole new prospective of my X5.

The first thing I noticed is that the Silverado LTZ was very large and the steering was a little sloppy. This new $44K truck (loaded) totally did not compare to the tightness, agility, features and overall quality that my nearly 10-year-old, 110k mile X5 has.

I know, (I KNOW!) ...I am comparing a BMW to a Chevy (truck), which is somewhat irrelevant, but the point of the story is that if you are tired of your ride, you should drive something different to compare.

As my buddy was driving away, I noticed that my X5 looked much sweeter in motion than how I normally see it; sitting in my garage or in a parking lot. He even complemented my X. It just looked 'right'. I loved the stance, the clean look of the IS front spoiler and watching those big wheels in motion... the new LED taillights and angle eyes, gave it an updated look.... it still looks fresh and new to me. There's a lot to be said about a few tasteful mods!

I think my wife's still hot too!

I sit and stare at my cars sometimes and I really like the curves and lines of my Z ........ And then I look up at my X and say Damn, that's mine too. I can't wait to get a nice set of wheels on it.
It's always funny to see people's reaction when you tell them what year it is. That to me is a dead give away that is not dated.
