I definitely have to disagree with you. From the interior next to the e70 I agree the e53 may look dated but exterior wise a face-lift e53 next an e70 still shines. A friend from my soccer team has an e70 and every time his e70 is parked next to my e53 I still get more compliments about exterior looks then the e70. But when it comes to the interior the e70 gets more compliments.

Bored?

The other day, I borrowed a friend's new Silverado pickup truck to move a heavy piece of equipment. In exchange, I left him with my X5. As he was driving away, I gained a whole new prospective of my X5.

The first thing I noticed is that the Silverado LTZ was very large and the steering was a little sloppy. This new $44K truck (loaded) totally did not compare to the tightness, agility, features and overall quality that my nearly 10-year-old, 110k mile X5 has.

I know, (I KNOW!) ...I am comparing a BMW to a Chevy (truck), which is somewhat irrelevant, but the point of the story is that if you are tired of your ride, you should drive something different to compare.

As my buddy was driving away, I noticed that my X5 looked much sweeter in motion than how I normally see it; sitting in my garage or in a parking lot. He even complemented my X. It just looked 'right'. I loved the stance, the clean look of the IS front spoiler and watching those big wheels in motion... the new LED taillights and angle eyes, gave it an updated look.... it still looks fresh and new to me. There's a lot to be said about a few tasteful mods!

I think my wife's still hot too!

I sit and stare at my cars sometimes and I really like the curves and lines of my Z ........ And then I look up at my X and say Damn, that's mine too. I can't wait to get a nice set of wheels on it.
It's always funny to see people's reaction when you tell them what year it is. That to me is a dead give away that is not dated.

A business associate of mine was looking over my X5 not too long ago and was shocked....shocked..when I told her it was a 2001. She thought 2009ish.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
I get the same compliments when I say mine is going on 11 years old. People ask me "wow you must make a good living to afford a BEAMER" lol. I tell them mine is worth less than your new Acura lease haha.

Honestly though if I got a set of Depos with LED angel eyes, running boards, and the front spoiler skid plate it would look even more current than it already does. The chassis has aged almost as well as the E39 IMO....

My 2003 X5 4.6 in Imola Red turns heads everywhere and I haven't even bothered to wax it since I bought it nearly 2 years ago. It is the car that started the whole sport SUV craze and it still looks sharp. Color is critical IMO, as are the larger wheels. The right combination makes all the difference. The only time I was truly annoyed is when some guy parked his brand new bright red Dodge 4x4 next to my E35. His red looked a lot hotter than my red, I had to admit.
