before you installed the capacitor did you continue to get the check tail lights error message on your dash because of the pulsing? just curious if the capacitor will fix this issue i hate warning lights.

i never tried without capacitors cus i didn't want any issues with my tail lights so i put the capacitor on the tail lights before i installed them on my truck. They are not spacial type of capacitors you can pick them up from radio shock or any electronic shop for less then $1 i found this out after paying $40 US. i will try to post pictures and part # to help ppl with this issue.

Did anyone say they were "special" capacitors? A capacitor is a capacitor, you just need the right type. Sure, its a fairly inexpensive item, but lets not forget that unless you have access to a soldering iron, heat shrink, wire taps, wire, and various connectors, you wont be able to get those capacitors installed. The capacitors we offer come with instructions and are fully plug and play, and as always we have after sales support. Im not in the business of ripping anyone off, just didnt want others to get the wrong idea of your post.

So I visited Lightwerkz today and the owner was kind enough to install my capacitors for me. Finally everything works! No error codes, no flickers, just bright, gorgeous LED tails. Thanks again Lightwerkz!

I in no way want to take away business from LightWerksas he is providing a valuable and needed service to many on these boards who lack either the time or skills required to make the modification necessary to get the LED's working properly. However, I am totally capable and willing to make my own, I am just lacking the info on what size caps are needed. Obviously LightWerks went through the time and hassle to figure out the proper parts needed to resolve the issue, and I don't expect him to give that info out. But if anyone else has the data please PM me or I guess I will just start the process of trial and error as well. Thanks for any help, as that is what these boards are for, people with a common interest sharing their passion and knowledge. I will be sure to pass along anything of value that I am able to come up with as well.

To anyone that was in the same boat as me looking to replace the troublesome stock taillights with LED's on their '04-'06 X's you might want to check out this thread. I should also mention that this is for the DIY'ers here. All the others can follow the "pre-configured" "plug-&-play" route that several here have done with great results...
