I don't think this is true...I have 2003 4.4 & installed yesterday Sonar Led's & let me tell you that they are FLICKERING like a Christmas tree + the wiring in Sonar Leds was different from my OEM so I needed to change the pins in my OEM socket for them to work but they still flickered...

So I think every car is different - on some pre-facelift they are Ok but some will have problems...

As was mentioned if they flicker, you will need to get RL-650 Tail Light Load Resistor kit from Super Bright Leds for them to work properly.
