I think I might have the same problem. I posted my story above, but one thing I didn't mention was that I just got my car back from the dealership where it was for two weeks, and I am pretty sure the battery ran down while it was there.
I am waiting for a part for my car and once it arrives I will be going back to have it installed and my BT issue addressed. In the meantime, I am back to manual phone use. I will post what I find out from my dealership. Please do the same if you find an answer. Thanks, mug3 |

Thanks for your reply. I am going to call the dealership in Chicago where I bought the car three weeks ago, tomorrow (Monday) and will let you know what they say. I am sure it is something simple (hopefully), and just needs a re-boot, or something along those lines. At any rate, I'll be back to you.

Hi, mug3.
Well, I had my car at the dealer today and they discovered that the reason my blue tooth was not operating was that the module was not outputting any voltage. Basically, it was dead. I was told it would be seven hundred dollars plus for the part, installation, and then programming. To say I was pretty upset about this is an understatement, having just obtained this CPO car. It turns out that the telephone is not covered by the CPO. The blue tooth definitely worked prior to the car having a dead battery and being jump started. It didn't work after that. So, I am wondering if there is a cause and effect relationship here. I'll start a new thread and see if anyone else has had this problem. Also, incidentally, some of the radio pixels went out since the car was jumped. I am wondering if this too may be related to a voltage spike. Let me know what happens with your car. If this experience is more than just mine, I'd go yo BMWUSA and see what they would do about it. |

You might have to re-enter the pass code on the X5 again ?

Do you mean pass key?

That's what I meant. Just as you did the very first time you coupled the phone.

Thanks for the suggestion. It is definitely not a pass key issue. The system is just not operating.

Zachthefcr,
While I am still waiting to take my car back to the dealership (waiting on another unrelated part), today I decided to unplug my BT module to see what might happen. I took it all the way out, unplugging all connections. I waited a couple minutes and then reconnected all the wires and mounted it back in place. Took about 15-20 minutes in all. I turned my car on and it immediately paired with my phone and voice activation is now working again. I guess this essentially rebooted the BT module such that it reset or something. Anyway, I am connected again with BT. Best of luck with your BT issues. mug3 |

Thanks for that reply, mug3. Is there a link on this site on where the BT is located in the car?
